Hi all
My name is george and i am looking for people that have, ( Like me ) had problems with north east lincs council, and council tax.
Allthough anyone that feels that the there councl has acted unfair against them may want to follow this thread. I am looking for people that have ioether
1. Been taken to court for a liability order for the years council tax that they are still in
or
2. Are working poor ( Like me ) ( works full time but have childeren so would still qualify for benefits ) and have been taken to court over council tax.
I have found a mechanisim within council tax proceedures that allows the sinior managers at councils to falsify collection figures. Am lookin at for an indication as to how many people this affects, both in my council and others, to give you abn indication, my council have falsified ther sucsessfull colection rate, to the direct financial loss of approx 12% of our residence.
After a deconstruction of the figures, i have found who these 12% were, and was astounded, truly. When you have the head ( Like i do ) to reconstruct the costs of council tax collection, and run the numbers against the re-callculated collection rate. you get some shocking results,
i am building a website to help anyone who may have been caught out by this by automating some tasks for them but i would ask anyone who feels they fit to put some details down in this thread
My name is george and My council tax officers, finance officers, the lgo officer are so much going to regret rattleing my cage

Sorry, I may be being a bit stupid here, but why would a council want to falsify their collection rate to make it look better if they were trying to con people out of money?
If a council are on the make then surely a lower collection rate would give them more justification to hoik up the increase percentage the following year, not to mention enable them to apply for a higher annual grant from central government...
Can you please also explain to me in as simple terms as possible how you have been able to link a falsy high collection rate with a 12% overcharge in tax? |

these are the figures for one year
North east lincolnshire council 1 year
1. The year 2006-2007
Number of bills sent 70259
Number Of notices ( 4 weeks) 33614
Number of Summons ( 8 Weeks )11749
Number of Liability Orders 12 Weeks 8345
Profit Generated from liability orders £667,795
Cost paid to court £38,373
Cases sent to bailiffs 4426
Amount collected by bailfs £880,299
Published collection rates 97.7
I also have the ammounts paid to baillifs, the averidge CT bill increace.
The big story is the number of summon ( 11749 ) and the number of them that end up on benefits, or, are all ready on benefits incorrectly applied or reffuse. A scary high number of those summons end up being for working parent on low incomes. Why. ? Its all to do with the published collection rates and the figures each council have to present to the audit commission.
Council officer have to show a high collection rate for council tax and they use the court systems and liability orders to remove people from the figure that they have to present. |
